Our Restless Society
By Peter G. Federico

“It is a gloomy moment in history. Not for many years…has there been so much…apprehension…Never has the future seemed so incalculable…In France the political caldron seethes…Russia hangs…like a cloud…on the horizon…All the …resources …of the British Empire are sorely tired…Of our own troubles (in the United States) no man can see the end.” Harper’s Weekly, October 10, 1857

News from Vocations

Welcome Richard Jasper
On August 15, 2008, the Augustinian Community at Blessed Stephen Bellesini Friary welcomed Richard Jasper into the Pre-Novitiate program. Rich, a native of Drexel Hill, is a 1992 graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School and a 1996 graduate of Cabrini College. The past several years he has taught at Saint Charles in Drexel Hill, then at Saint Mary Magdalene in Rose Tree - Media. During his Pre-Novitiate year, Rich will take some philosophy courses at Villanova University and also teach once a week at Sacred Heart School in Manoa.

The Pre-Novitiate is the first year of formation in the Augustinian community and is meant to introduce the candidate into Augustinian religious life and prepare him for his novitiate year. To learn more about the formation process for the Augustinians, check out the vocations section of the website or contact Fr. Kevin DePrinzio, OSA, at vocations@augustinian.org.
